After a decade of being a label manager, the motor of alt. country band BIG LOW and the bass-player/recording engineer/manager of the much-praised Balkan world-music/fusion outfit PARNE GADJE Dan decided it was high time he did something of his own. The opening track of his 2017 solo debut "The Biggest Bastard Who Ever Rode the West" bowls you over with dry wit and is a master-class in narrative song-writing. Referred to by critics in his native Australia as an "instant classic" this album has guest appearances by Australian luminaries Lucie Thorne and Matt Walker. Its big rich vocal sound, stabbing Hammond organs, deep bass and thick gritty guitar riffs are firmly in alt.country territory, but Dans approach to it all is thoroughly unique.
