Wow, looks like there is a new album by what I call the slowest working band in the known universe, aka Blackup. It took them only years to release this new vinyl after their very successful debut album Ease & Delight (2011 Screaming Mimi/Flight13) and the 2017 Clubbing into Submission 12" (Delboy/ Flight13). Where they worked with the mighty Jon Spencer (Blues Explosion) and the legend that is Ivan Julian (from Richard Hell and the Voidoids fame) before, they now seem to have joined forces with Jeff Claeys (who turned tricks for Millionaire and JSBX entre-autre) and Tim Green. Tim Green of course was active in bands like the Nation Of Ulysses and The Fucking Champs and in the meantime, worked on millions of records for small, unknown bands such as the Melvins, Sleater Kinney, Sleepy Sun, Bikini Kill and Wand. Of course Jeff and Tim were the dudes Blackup wanted for their new record. Recording and mixing was done in Gent, Belgium and Grass Valley, California. The band, in the meantime has never stopped playing gigs. After tours with Hot Snakes, RFTC, Metz, Jon Spencer, and recently 2019 opening up for Black Mountain, the Blackup boys even joined the Australian punk rock outfit Brat Farrar and did a joint EU tour, doing 2 sets, back to back, night after night. Fun, yes, and the work also paid off. Big time!
