Monkeeman
Life In The Backseat
Monkeeman from Berlin, Germany self -produced their third album. Singer Ralf Luebke wanted "Life in the Backseat" to not
be perfectly polished and smoothly arranged but instead raw and bursting with energy. "Working in the studio was like:
Beer, Guitars and Amps up to 10. The occasional swap of instruments included." There are no acoustic guitars on "Life in
the Backseat" but the great songwriting and the incredible melodies remain. The sound is rockier and dirtier and the
songs breathe the influence of 40 years of British pop culture and sound like a great gig at a sweaty club. The album
was mixed by the fantastic Patrik Majer at his Berlin based Freudenhaus studios. Luebke's influences are indeed obvious:
The Beatles, The Jam, early Oasis and Supergrass, Northern Soul and the Punk and the Mod movements but these all add to
Monkeeman's own unique sound.
