DYNAMIC EARLY WHITESNAKE BROADCAST CONCERT
Formed in 1978 by David Coverdale, following his departure from Deep Purple, Whitesnakes early material has been
compared favourably to the blues rock of Purple, but they slowly began moving toward a more accessible rock style. By
the turn of the decade, the band's commercial fortunes had changed and they released a string of UK top 10 albums, Ready
an' Willing (1980), Come an' Get It (1981), Saints & Sinners (1982) and Slide It In (1984), the last of which was their
first to chart in the US and is certified 2x Platinum.
The bands first album Trouble reached No. 50 on the UK Albums Chart when it was released in October 1978. This LP
followed the 4 track E.P. Snakebite, later available in the US as an import album from continental Europe. This was also
the first Whitesnake release to feature Coverdale's former bandmate in Deep Purple, Jon Lord.
Following the records release, Whitesnake went out on the road to promote the album, and on 1st November 78 the band
played at Brightons legendary Dome, performing a show that was recorded for live FM Broadcast. Now released on CD for
the first time, this remarkable early concert from Whitesnake illustrates just how oven-ready the group were upon their
formation.
