Heidi is back - and her newest return is stage-bound! With beautifully fitting songs by Michael Schanze, the new musical does not only do justice to the traditional story but expands its horizon by illuminating its historical background also. In a playful way - and with musicals stars like Maya Haakvoort, Uwe Kroeger, Vanessa Zips and Alfons Haider - the new Heidi captures both the life in - and socio-political upheaval of - 19th century Switzerland but the sheer freedom of the Alps themselves. Needless to say Johanna Spyris Heidi has found its way into countless TV and film adaptions. As the most successful Swiss piece of literature, it has been published in over fifty countries. With the musical engagement of Michael Schanze and Hans-Dieter Schreebs complementary writing, the childrens classic celebrated its musical debut on the 10th October 2018 at the world-premiere in Vienna. While Vanessa Zips stars in the leading role, old favourite Maya Hakvoort is the governess Rottenmeier at her side. Uwe Kroeger convinces as Heidis grumpy grandfather Alm-Oehi and Alfons Haider stars as Heidis friend Klaras father - Mr Sesemann.
