Ein Hauch Von Venus
For fun, New York hairdresser Rodney sticks the engagement ring, which was actually intended for his girlfriend Gloria,
on a 3000-year-old Venus statue. In this way, he awakens the goddess from her marble sleep, who falls in love with him
in a bang. And that's where the problems begin: The disappearance of the statue is blamed for theft, and when Venus
conjures up her competitor Gloria to the North Pole, Rodney ends up in prison under suspicion of murder. When Rodney
actually falls in love with the Olympic pest in spite of all this, the goddess of love has to ask herself whether a
boring life as a housewife in the New York suburb really corresponds to her life planning.
After the operetta "Much Ado About Love", the Dresden State Operetta will bring Kurt Weill's most successful American
Broadway play to the stage at the Kraftwerk Mitte with the musical "Ein Hauch Von Venus" (One Touch of Venus). After
film diva Marlene Dietrich rejected the role of Venus, the young Mary Martin came on the line and became a star
overnight. "Ein Hauch Von Venus" contains some of the most wonderful numbers that Weill composed. The Rumba "Speak Low"
became a hit worldwide, which among other things was interpreted by Frank Sinatra or Benny Goodman.
