Soapstarter is a Belgian indie-pop band centered around multi-instrumentalist/producer Francois De Meyer. Judging by the music, Francois is somewhere in a blissful summer place, probably sipping a cocktail and enjoying a nice blowjob in the jacuzzi. The bliss that radiates from all those sultry beats and loungy trip-hop is as welcome as an all-in holiday in Tunisia during harsh days in Belgium. In the music you can hear influences from the psych-soul of Khruangbin, the alt-pop of bands like Tame Impala or Unknown Mortal Orchestra, but also the sultry electronica of Maribou State or the funky vibes of Vulfpeck. The band consists of a quintet of great musicians who are (or were) also active in various projects such as Coely, Shht, Paard, The Guru Guru, Disko Drunkards and Raveyards.
