Skylake is a Dutch alternative rock group that is active since 2015. The current formation consists of Bart Laan on lead guitars and vocals, Charlie Feld on bass guitar, Suzan van den Engel on vocals and harp, and Arjan Laan on drums. While initially playing covers of their favourite artists, the band quickly shifted focus towards writing and performing their own material. In the second half of 2018, the band completed their debut album In Orbit after an extensive writing process of four years. The album contains seven original tracks, and is musically informed by bands such as Karnivool, Tesseract, Anathema and Porcupine Tree, though mostly featuring their own sound. It alters between atmospheric, melodic and rhythmic styles, and varies in its intensity from calmer acoustic and ambient sections to more guitar-heavy pieces.
