Shield Of Steel, formed in late 2007 by former Black Rising and classic rock heroes No Quarter members. Following the successful touring act that did the usual rounds of covers, from the likes of Sabbath, Rainbow, etc. the band became primarily a vehicle for top class guitarist Gavin Coulson, a UK product demonstrator for Fret-King and Vintage guitars also providing demos and clinics extensively throughout the UK, and as such regularly appears in the JHS magazine GEAR. The band settled down to record their debut album "Communion" at Audiomangle in Dewsbury and have captured a classic and traditional sound, reminiscent of the time coming up to the NWOBHM movement in the UK, when bands like Rainbow and Maiden rules the Britannia waves. The bands raw sound encapsulating that underground movement of bands whose riffs and licks and spectacularly energetic live shows underpinned the street swagger and every day manner. Classic tunes for the older, wiser metal head, perhaps.
