In her new album, ASWAT, Djazia Satour freely explores a more assertive personal creative vein. She conducts in-depth research on sonorities, driven by maturity and the need to listen to thehertage of deceased ancestors : the oriental minor is married to the blues, a three-beat waltz is invited to chaabi rhythms by combining with samples of oud, and the bendirs of imaginary tribes syncopate with the most unbridled banjo riffs. Entirely sung in Arabic and built around original compositions, this album tells the story of exile, the strength of love, the magic of singing. Through textes with personal echoes, the artist suggests an approach to the world, while making a return to basics imbued with delicacy and eloquence. Far from exhibitions of backward-looking scents, this new opus owes its authenticity as much to invention as to tradition.
