Reeves, Gordon
The Rising Tide
Gordon Reeves loves "to come home in the evening with some dirt on his hands." The gardener from Dublin loves
the fresh air and the sea. So it is no surprise that his songs are inspired by the natural world. His trademark - the
rough, strong voice and his headstrong guitar playing - transfer brilliantly into simple and honest music. Which has
been attracting a small but rapidly growing fan base.
With "The Rising Tide" the Irish singer/songwriter introduces his second album, twelve soulful and diversified songs
with deep lyrics and strong melodies. Each song comes from the heart and reflects everyday life and his personality.
"I always want a song to sound like how I feel it" - and you can feel it. From a music point of view, the rising tide
offers a spectrum of different styles/genres of music but with a common thread running through the songs. The title
comes from the idea of constant change, from low ebb to the rushing high tide. The album begins with a slow soulful
ballad then it's over to a heavier guitar sound and ends with a stripped back version of "The Auld Triangle."
His mainly unknown debut album "Live From The Living Room" was recorded without a label in private settings and
quickly sold a few hundred. It will be soon re-released as an EP. With the song "Anywhere But Here" Gordon took
part in the competition "stern.de - Die Stars von Morgen" (stars of tomorrow) run by the German magazine stern in
Oct. 2008. The competition was strong with entries from all over Europe, so Gordon was delighted to take second
place when the competition ended in 2009.
