Crossing Daylight
The Ex Pere Ubu enigma and synth maestro who left the band in the late 80s to become an airline pilot has now returned
to music, first back to synthesizers but, with this release, a highly personal set of compositions interpreted by
traditional concert instruments. These are ambiguous, hovering compositions - air-tinting, incidental, cinematic
swatches of sound, seemingly ephemeral and unattached - like sonic fire-lanterns drifting into oblivion. Performed by
Victor Morales and the Cane Run Orchestra. Best known for his work in the experimental rock group Pere Ubu, Ravenstine
was exposed to music from the start, both through his mothers playing of classical piano pieces and his father's
interest in jazz and percussion recordings.
