"Refined," "Experienced", "Mature", these are all labels you can stick on Poor Man Richie.. Why give everything again around your 40th to make the best possible record you can to make? Because the songs are too good to leave on the shelf? Because the urge to do something beautiful do it continue to win over resignation and cynicism? Because you continue to develop as a musician and songwriter? Because you hope to be able to pay off your mortgage in one go? The starting point of the album is clear: Blue-eyed soul from the late 70s, early 80s (think Hall & Oates, Steely Dan, and current acts like Young Gun Silver Fox and Parcels). Still, Poor Man Richie (like once Wealthy Beggar) cannot be easily caught and influences creep from Rock, Psychedelics and Americana enter the music (think Jonathan Wilson, Wilco, Radiohead).
