Since five years Vesna Pisarovic is working on her project Petit Standard, she steadily improves the choice of titles and the line-up. It is a major artistic challenge, especially for the singer, to get along in a setting without melodic counterpart. Vesna masters this with bravura. Her fellow musicians perform with stability and utmost competence, Joe Fonda on double bass and, with her from the beginnings, John Betsch on drums. The recordings were made just recently in Brussels, and Gebhard Ullmann, who was in town, was invited as a guest. His performance on tenor saxophone and bass clarinet was so inspiring, that finally he contributed to most of the songs. The release tour in January 2019 is dedicated to the great Billie Holiday, and you may find some of her songs on Petit Standard.
