The Pacific Guitar Ensemble are a San Francisco based guitar- collective super-group aimed at bringing to the music world their accessible yet complex contrapuntally textured, harmonically rich, and rhythmically driven music. Founded by David Tanenbaum and Peppino D'Agostino, they have transformed the traditional guitar ensemble world by using eight guitars in ensemble and venturing into the exciting contemporary sounds of works composed by Sergio Assad, Terry Riley, and Peppino D'Agostino, and Belinda Reynolds. The Pacific Guitar Ensemble plays on traditional nylon string classical guitars, steel string guitar, arch lute, oud, acoustic bass, and baroque guitar.
