How I Spent My Bummer Vacation

No Fun

How I Spent My Bummer Vacation
When going abroad to California for a year makes you high on life, returning back to your parents basement in Bavaria feels extra low. NO FUN, at first only a therapeutic outlet for singer Andreas grief, soon became a real project with her childhood friends Basti and Jens. They mix teenage angst, non-sense and punk, dress up as bananas on christmas markets for music videos (,Ode and die Freude") and play a seemingly never ending stream of shows, among others with international acts as Perfect Pussy, Direct Hit, Toys That Kill, Barb Wire Dolls, Caves, Muncie Girls and Great Cynics. To capture all this, the three friends went to the studio (who am I kidding, it was only their practice room), and so goes to story of How I Spent My Bummer Vacation: Their debut LP is filled with straight up tributes to Pizza (Pizza Song), Los Angeles (Mulholland Drive), but also finds a deeper emotional level in midtempo-songs such as Pull the Trigger and Until My Heart Explodes. Musically the sound is equally random - somewhere between classic 80s Punkrock, Californian Garage Punk and even Blues and Soul (Angry Fruit). NO FUN sing about love, expectations and alcohol - basically everything Generation Y wants to hear about. Only much louder. For Fans Of: DESCENDENTS, THE SUBWAYS, BIKINI KILL, THE OBLIVIANS, TY SEGALL and THE BRIEFS!
