NEWMEN is a new German band who are publishing with ,Hush Rush" their debut. Their big role models and musical infl uences are The Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth and the New Wave music of the 80s. The quintet is not as raw as the legends just mentioned, but their spirit hovers over their music. More and more bands nowadays mention these bands as their role models, maybe its hip or trendy again to remind one how cool Velvet Undergound or Sonic Youth were. However, the pioneer spirit of these bands is untouchable and unreachable. The production is nowadays on a much higher level, especially if you want to appeal to a wider audience. NEWMEN is not much different, the production is clean and the sound of the band more reminiscent more of the New Wave movement of the 80s. This trend seems to celebrate at the moment a kind of renaissance, best example are here the British band White Lies. And it is in this direction, the band goes even though the theatrical and pompous moments of the White Lies are not present in that great extent. NEWMEN sound like a hybrid of the White Lies, Phoenix, New Order and Blackmail.
