De New York Gypsy All-Stars zijn voortgekomen uit het New York Gypsy Festival. Zoals het echte New Yorkers betaamt komen deze muzikanten uit alle delen van de wereld (Brooklyn, Turkije, Griekenland, Macedonië) en nemen ze talloze invloeden in hun muziek op, van jazz en funk via bhangra tot traditionele Balkanklanken.
