Monro, Matt
Memories
Primarily known as a ballad singer, Matt Monro broke into the upper echelons of the charts during the early 1960s.
Having previously been a bus driver, Matt got his first break on television, being the featured vocalist with the BBC
Show Band. This led to a contract with Decca (thanks also to the assistance of Winifred Atwell, who gave him his stage
name - his real name is Terence Parsons), who released an album of Matts interpretations of then current standards, an
album that effectively disappeared without trace. Three years later, George Martin used him to record a number for the
opening cut on a Peter Sellers album which was billed as being by Fred Flange, but the introduction led to a series of
proper Matt releases on Parlophone and his eventual chart success. Tracklisting: 1. That Old Feeling
