CD Jacques Mayoud « Le bal des songes » DJM03 - 2020 - 19 tracks - 67'14 Jacques Mayoud, one of the pioneers of French
folk music in the 70s and 90s, has brought together in this new album dance tunes composed over the years. Much of this
music came to him ...while he was sleeping. These melodies captured in dreams joined other tunes that had been playing
in the back of his head for a long time. Tunes forgotten for a few months, a few years, to which Jacques Mayoud now
gives life again in this Bal des Songes, an instrumental album outside of a group project, guided by simplicity and good
humour. For this special traditionnal dance party, Jacques Mayoud (violin, mandola, overtone flute, sanza, voice and
percussion) has surrounded himself with a beautiful bunch of musicians from Rhône-Alpes playing folk instruments
(diatonic and chromatic accordion, 20 inch bagpipes, harp, hurdy-gurdy, nyckelharpa, violin, tamburello...) but also
those of gypsy swing (gypsy guitars and double bass...).
