This is the third studio release from the unclassifiable "alternative big-band" known as MarchFourth (also known
as MarchFourth Marching Band, or "M4" by its fans). Produced by Steve Berlin (Los Lobos), Magnificent Beast features a
wide array of genre-mashing groove-based material that has established them as one of the best live touring acts, while
stepping it up a notch with more vocals and guitar. Following their 2009 release, Rise Up (a tribute to new Orleans),
Magnificent Beast finds the band bringing it all back home to Portland. What began as an experiment in gypsy brass,
second-line, afrobeat, samba, and circus has now evolved into a fullblown big-stage brass-rock-funk assault peppered
with moments of swing, jazz, bollywood, ska and metal.
