Millenial Bundist
Isabel Frey is a Jewish singer and political activist and dedicates herself mainly to Yiddish revolutionary and
resistance songs. Her debut solo album 'Millenial Bundist' is a collection of these kind of songs. On the album, on
which she mostly accompanies herself on guitar, the definition of a "revolution song" is broad: in addition to
traditional battle songs from the Yiddish workers' movement, it also reinterprets well-known Yiddish folk songs and
connects them with today's politics. Where some of the songs are over 100 years old, their topics such as exploitation,
migration, state repression or sexual violence are still relevant today.
