Forbis, Wil -& The Gentlemen Scroundels-
Shadey's Jukebox
Music critic Billy Shepherd described the music of Wil Forbis and the Gentlemen Scoundrels as "country music gone
beautifully wrong" and a listen to their debut album, Shadeys Jukebox, will only confirm the remark. The album is
centered on the sounds of country and Americana, but isnt afraid to borrow liberally
from a wide spectrum of styles to create additional impact. Dixieland horn breaks, bluegrass mandolin and Nashville
speed picking all interlock in graceful harmony. What holds it all together is both Forbiss allegiance to the craft of
songwriting and the eyebrow raising musicianship of his band. The album features Dave Alvin side man, Steve Mugalian, on
drums and an array of guest musicians from the Los Angeles Americana scene who drop in on fiddle, pedal steel and organ.
