Diabla, La
La Receta/la Poderosa
La Diabla has been "cumbiando" since before it was cool. The name "La Diabla" is derived from an old Celso Pina tune.
La Diabla was a side project that stemmed from the band "Koñorteño" based out of Tijuana. During the turn of the century
the project blossomed after numerous trips to Monterrey Mx where they immersed themselves in the rich culture and music
of Colombia that was a prevalent subculture known as Los Colombias
Their music can be powerful and aggressive, romantic and cheerful, even dark and macabre. There's something for everyone
to dance to. The group has been described as Andres Landero meets N.W.A, but with masks, La Sonora Dinamita meets Daft
Punk. Regardless, La Diabla is here to make you move and make dance floors bounce.
This is their 1st vinyl release. 2 stellar efforts on this 7" record. Cumbia Sabanera is what they play. It's a style of
Cumbia developed in the Caribbean a region of Colombia. Somehow it made its way to Monterey Mx and over to Tijuana and
up north to LA.
