After releasing four albums in ten years as part of the SOUSOU & MAHER CISSOKO duo and after his solo debut "Kora Fo", MAHER CISSOKO is now releasing his second solo album "Cissoko Heritage". After the CD, the vinyl LP is now also on AJABU! available. MAHER CISSOKO grew up in southern Senegal but is currently based in Sweden and has established himself as a household name on the folk and world music scene. Like his last solo album 'Kora Fo', Cissoko Heritage is an intimate musical experience with a complete focus on Maher's love for the West African harp kora. On his new album, the artist opens up to new influences and tries things out. Strong Griot influences can be seen and Afro-Beat, Dance-Hall, Reggae, Afro-Pop and Mbalax can also be found. MAHER creates his own Mande fusion. His explosive and improvisational kora playing meets electronic soundscapes. World music can sound so modern!
