Bosch, Rik Van Den
Coffee, Cigarettes & Beer
This singer-songwriter from Amsterdam will surely touch you with his melancholic lyrics, idyllic guitar skills and
impressive, moving voice. Van den Bosch writes pure (mostly acoustic) songs from the bottom of his heart; genuinely
authentic, with full knowledge of the roots. Just three years ago Rik finished second in de finals of the Grolsch Grote
Prijs van Nederland. Besides the extensive Chimney Brothers collection - Rik is their singing guitarplaying frontman -
Muze Records already released three solo albums of Van den Bosch, since he travelled the USA (from New Orleans to New
York) with only his bicycle and his guitar strapped to his back. On the 22nd of May his fourth solo album 'Coffee,
Cigarettes and Beer' appeared and was presented in Paradiso. Rik invited some guests for his release party, the
musicians who also play along on his new record: Roosbeef Roos Rebergen (backing vocals), Roland van Beveren (pedal
steel), Kees Jonkheer (piano, Live in your Livingroom), Herman van Loenhout aka Dutch protestsinger Armand (accordeon)
and Bruce van Mulier (bass/percussion). Dirk Sloos recorded, mixed and mastered the album at the Muze Recording Studio,
but also played the drums on some of the tracks. Coffee, Cigarettes & Beer is kind of a tribute to all the influences
that made Rik into the amazing singer-songwriter he is now. 16 of his own songs, of which two odes to icons Muddy Waters
and Blind Boy Fuller. Expect an intense journey through the landscape of Rhythm & Blues, Folk, Country, Soul, Blues en
Mexicana.
